Bridge of Americas work nears completion

Posted on May 2, 2017 in Panama

WORK on the Bridge of the Americas which has spanned three administrations is within two weeks of completion according to Public Works Minister Ramón Arosemena.

The Minister visited the bridge on Tuesday, May 2 and announced that the contractor  MCM Global, will finish the last parts of the project in a fortnight, which will be followed by an inspection.

Arosemena  said that the project will include better lighting and signage to make the bridge safer.

The work began under the administration of President Martín Torrijos (2004-2009) and continued under the government of Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014).

It has been plagued by problems and a source of endless delays, accidents, and frustration  for motorists.
