Please protect your pets this coming weekend

Recommended Posts

Beginning on Saturday, December 31, probably sometime in the afternoon the fireworks will start and will continue on well into the night.

Please protect your pets by bringing them inside or keeping them contained in a secure location.

As we have seen from just this past week over Christmas, many dogs made their great escape from fear of the loud noises.  As far as we are aware none have been found yet.

Please learn from others; this is a frightening time for most of these animals and they depend on you to keep them safe.

ARF is a small non-profit animal organization dedicated to the rescue, care, foster and adoption of the unwanted and neglected animals in Boquete and the surrounding areas.  Please visit our website at http://www.arf-boquete.com/  if you are interested in adopting an animal.  You can also help with the financial support of these animals by clicking here http://www.arf-boquete.com/donate.html 100% of our donations go to the animals.

Also please remember to have a collar and tag on your pet with your contact number engraved on it so people can contact you immediately if the pet is found....rather than wading thru various websites/blogs/plastered posters, etc.

You can get an engraved tag from Mr. Dog in David, and sometimes from Melo in Boquete and David...(when the engraving machines are operational).....also you can order from Amazon and have shipped to Boquete thru Mailboxes or E Shop.

Take the small steps necessary to ensure your pet is safe at all times, and prepare for the worst......microchipping is not yet fully here in Panama yet....but at least have an identification tag with your phone number on his/her collar in case your pet gets lost.

They depend on US to protect and take care of them.......let's not disappoint them

Keith, it is very common in the States and Canada.   There are several different companies who "monopolize" this industry.  I cannot truthfully say that I know that all microchips are "cross referenced" from one company to another - which in my opinion it should be.....that is really the only way to make this idea effective.

I live part time in the Cayman Islands, and the microchip my dogs have are based in Canada.  Like all technology today, it doesn't really matter where you are, as long as you have an effective system.

Panama, as far as I am aware, and anyone with more knowledge please correct me, does not have a viable microchip system in place.

That's right, Panama does not have a microchip system.  There might be some in Panama City.  You need not only the chips in the pets, but people who have readers.  Different brands of chips require different readers.

Would that be competition instead of monopoly?
