Moderators Moderator_02 Posted January 4, 2020 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2020 Quote Senior cop fired without pension Posted 03/01/2020 National Police (PN) Commissioner (PN), Jacinto Chinto Gómez, was dismissed from his post on Thursday, January 2. The police disciplinary board made the decision to fire Gomez, after a session that lasted 10 minutes. He offered no defense and has five days to file an appeal. Upon discharge, an officer loses pension rights.. Gomez served as deputy director and general director in charge of the Police in the last months of the administration of Juan Carlos Varela (2014-2019). He served as deputy secretary of the National Security Council, close to the former head of that entity, Rolando "Picuiro" López, also in the past administration. https://www.newsroompanama.com/news/senior-cop-fired-without-pension

Moderators Moderator_02 Posted January 5, 2020 Author Moderators Share Posted January 5, 2020 Quote OPINION: Political payback behind police firing? Posted 04/01/2020 THE NEW YEAR started with fury in the National Police. Unfortunately, the object of this feeling does not seem to be crime or corruption, but political revenge. Commissioner Jacinto Gómez, who achieved fame for being responsible for the custody of Ricardo Martinelli as soon as he was extradited by the United States, was dismissed, without being heard, by a disciplinary board made up of officers with links to that ex-president's government. It is a pity and cause for concern that the National Police has become an instrument of political manipulation, and retaliation against the officers who committed themselves to justice. Dismiss a senior officer, without allowing him to make his discharges and without the right to retirement, under suspicious conditions, It can trigger acts of revenge and divisions in the security sectors. This is just the breeding ground that corrupt, drug traffickers and gangs want to beat the rule of law. These estates have become a source of pretexts and a dispenser of favors.
