They also raped two young women, who received medical attention at the Portobelo health center where they filed the complaint The vessel under the command, of Captain Jorgen Brevik, left Norway in September to take a tour that would take them to Spain, Portugal, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Panama. They raped the two women crew members one aged 22, the other 35. After the attack, the sailboat moved to Portobelo and reported the outrage to the National Police. The two young women were treated at a local health center The closed hearing was held at the headquarters of the accusatory Criminal System (SPA) in Colon. The authorities are moving quickly because the victims will leave the country on Saturday. Reactions Tourism Authority (ATP) Director Iván Eskildsen said that if security is impaired, efforts to attract more tourists will fail. He said that the problem must be tackled head-on because Panama’s international reputation as a safe destination cannot be put into play. They join six other young men arrested during a police raid and found with items stolen from the sailboat Alibaba which left Norway in September on a world tour. The men were ordered detained, on November 14 The incident occurred in the early hours of November 8. The two young women, one aged 22 and the other 25, were with four friends, were surprised by eight men, who threatened them with a gun and robbed them. The girls were raped. one by three men and the other by four. Those involved videotaped the outrage. The first attackers were ordered preventive detention on November 14. The sentence comes through the validation of a consensual sentence agreement between the Public Ministry and the legal defense. The Trial Court also applied to those sentenced as an accessory penalty the disqualification from exercising positions or professions in parks, kindergartens, schools, or in any place where minors regularly gather, for a term of five years, once the main sentence has been served.
