Fundacion Pro-Integracion
Founded in 1943 in London, Optima is one of the leading traditional manufacturers of fitted, English picnic baskets and picnic accessories. Optima’s discriminating willow English picnic baskets include fine china in a variety of both elegant and sporting styles, ideal for peaceful country or seaside afternoons. This picnic basket was received as a gift by a prominent Boquete family but never used. This year it was donated to the Handicap Foundation as a gift. Made in England, it is fully stocked with gear for your Boquete picnic. All you need is the edibles! Probably made in the 50's, it has not been used. The basket is woven of willow and has a leather carrying handle and leather buckles. The interior of the lid has green leather snap straps, which hold 4 plates and full cutlery. The pottery plates are marked "Churchill - Made in Staffordshire" and decorated in a blackberry motive. Also included: 4 napkins, 4 cups, 1 food storage box, a small wicker basket with 4 glasses and salt/pepper shakers. The basket measures 23" x 15" x 8". These baskets sell for over 100 British pounds sterling (about $131 - $200) and a similar one sold recently at auction for $177. The Handicap Foundation wishes to sell this brand new vintage basket for $60. Email pjbarrett@aol.com to purchase.
