  1. The speed is the same on regular cable or fiber when it leaves the distribution center. All fiber does is provide more Band Width and stable speed. Fiber gives the opportunity for more customers on the line with less lag/buffer time. Certainly more stable also. One problem with fiber, when the glass is broken it takes a long time to repair. Copper can be repaired in a few minutes. Also, most companies DO NOT run fiber into the house or structure. So, you will have copper in the house in most cases. More up to date countries are running fiber into houses but it is not necessarry. The short runs of copper in a house or structure will likely not effect speed or band width. Distance and resistance on copper is critical. So, short runs are not effected. Cat5 and Cat6 in house copper wiring has a limit of 5000-6000 ft with out the need for a repeater/booster. Fiber/Glass wire has little to no resistance but does have band width for more customers. All cables are Bi-Directional (trans/recieve). In a house you Always recieve more than you transmit. This shows up on speed test as download speed and upload speed. Down load is always the faster. The speed is determined in the equipment room and not determine by the cable. You get what you pay for in other words.
  2. Global Bank has never limited my withdrawls. My bank in the U.S. limits me to ONE withdrawl per 24 hrs with USA debit card and a fee is charged. If I use my USA debit card it WILL NOT give me my $500 limit because of the transaction fee puts me over my limit. Now that is just crazy. So, I withdraw less... I hardly EVER use my USA. I just drop an american check in my Global Bank account once a month.
  3. Is Novey in David opened for business?
  4. Fiber Optic is now in the underground duct work in Boquete Country Club. I don't know if the houses are connected yet or not. They ran the fiber down on the road headed to Palmira a month ago. I don't know how far they went towards Palmira. I have Netflix and 60 mg internet without issues. If you noticed they were running new fiber up and down the main road from David to Boquete for months. Maybe they will connect soon and provide more band width, speed and capacity. I recieved maintenance emails from Cabla Onda everytime the Fiber people worked on the highway laying the fiber. I do not believe it is functional yet. The reason; I do NOT see any difference in my internet or cable TV.
  5. Thanks, You are correct. I just got the official rules by email.
  6. There is much confusion on Jubildo ages. Everything we have read so far on Panamanian news is 65 for 11-1pm and the Embassy says 60. Who is right--------Embassy or President Cortizo?
  7. A local bar owner closed his bar. When ask why he responded; "I could not keep beer in the cooler."
  8. It has been blocked from viewing in Panama. Use a VPN. It works great with ProtonVPN. Proton is free.
  9. Panama should use the Lottery for education. Florida did this and the schools are better off because of the funding.

    Paris

Paris is very nice and cold this time of the year. We were caught in a major protest by union workers. The protest was unannounced. 4 out of 5 tours that we booked were cancelled. We did get a nice dinner cruise. So, we have done a lot of walking and eating. All fun days inspite of the protest.
  11. MAYBE, they took the samples in the mountains of Tennessee and compared them to L.A. lololololololol
  12. SHOCKED. I had a conversation with him the same day he passed.
  13. good news. one air panama plane on the tarmac for 5 months in david. sounds like a management problem. also, maybe they need better quality control on regular maintenance program. the manufactures of these planes know every detail on these planes. maybe some extra schools for the inspectors and mechanics. kinda of scarey to all of a sudden ground an entire fleet. oh well, i'll be using them soon.
  14. A lot of poor Panamanian people don't have credit cards but yet pay a higher price for yellow taxis with cash. (they charge what they want to charge) Who is the winner (MONEY)? Simple answer-----yellow taxis with no meters. Medellin has metered taxis and it works well for everyone. I have found UBER the best taxi service with Cleaner cars, more amiable, dependable and the safest drivers. The poor people (LOSERS) suffer over not being able to pay in cash to Uber. The winner here is UBER AND THE LOSERS ARE THE POOR. The crooks in Panama wanted to make UBER leave Panama-----DID NOT WORK. Uber is a cheaper fare in Panama City on all routes. As usualy, the poor Panamanians get screwed. Uber's software on your cell phone tells you the price of your trip before you call them. Just as good as meters. UBER, does the vetting of drivers and cars. If you ever use one you will not go back to yellow taxis. Yellow taxis ( Panama City) are mob like operation in my opinion.
  15. I use voltage protection and regulators. My Digital Samsung Fridge won't take this surge and low voltage.
