Project of Law about new property tax rates: Hi everyone, A good number of our clients has been asking us about the new property tax rates. As many of you may already know, the Panamanian Goverment is working on a law that will provide an important property tax reduction. At the moment is called Project of Law 509, and it is in the last stage of approval, it has already passed the third approval at the National Assembly, it will become a law when it be finally published at the Public Gazette. According to the project, there will be two rates both being beneficial for the property owners. The authomatic one is a reduction of the current rates of taxes and there will be other for the principal house of the client which the client should request. Properties that are tax exempted will mantain the exemption and after it expires client will receive the benefits of the new reduced tax rate and the option to declare the house as his principal one, to access to an even better rate of taxes. Also, this project of law is including a "MORATORIA" up to december 2017, to eliminate fines and late charges of property taxes. She is now offering two levels of Spanish classes in Boquete, Basic and Intermediate. These are professional instructions with an easy, clear curriculum and the correct sequencing of material. Location of the class is in Boquete The Basic Class is called Crash Course Spanish ****Class meets Thursdays and Fridays 9:00 a.m -11:15 It will get you speaking fast! It shows how the language is organized, and teaches the tricks of the language, pronunciation, cultural notes, phrases, vocabulary, speaking; fluid conversations, and how to ask and answer questions. You will practice and share tips, create full sentences. Learn how to speak without conjugating verbs. Workbook is included. The Crash Course Intermediate Class **Class meets Thursdays and Fridays 1:00 p.m -3:15 p.m. You will USE your acquired Spanish language! You will speak in class, get tips for learning to listen and respond in "rapid fire" exchanges, pronounce the difficult, role play, learn word order, expand your vocabulary and engage in specialized classes to gain better listening skills. You will speak every day, learn a higher use of some verbs without conjugating, create interesting sentences, listen to songs, conduct interviews and give short speeches. Learn by doing. Each student will translate for someone. It's time to do better at understanding what Spanish speakers are saying BECAUSE… the class also begins to "Train your ear” as well as “Practice Speaking" all of this as you learn more and more Spanish fast; you build the confidence you need to converse with others. Pre-requisite for the *Intermediate Class : Basic Spanish, no exceptions *Intermediate Class To enter this class the following will describe your level of speech: You respond to simple, direct questions or requests for information. You can ask a few questions concerning needs and wants with a good basic vocabulary, and are able to express personal meaning by relying heavily on learned or re-combined phrases, repeating or rephrasing what you hear around you. You know short and sometimes incomplete sentences in the present tense. At times you know you state things incorrectly, but gain confidence because the Spanish speaker “got” what you were trying to say. You may be hesitant or inaccurate, whereby frequent misunderstandings arise. When called upon to handle a variety of topics and perform serious functions you operate at about a 50% success range, and can sometimes respond in intelligible sentences, but cannot sustain full sentence exchanges. Good morning to Boquete ! Kiwi Vicki here. I guess the rain is not subsiding anytime soon. I believe this has been one of the wettest years for a long time, and those I am in contact with tell me they are over the rain. Friends of mine have just landed in Auckland for a week, and whilst still a little chilly (Spring here) at least its not raining. I am back at the helm of the Green Room for the BJBF Festival next February. I will be flying in early February to complete arrangements and organise set up. It is more difficult for me this time, since I no longer have my own kitchen to raid for the required utensils etc to have it function, so I am calling upon the fantastic Boquete community to help me out please. I am going to need cooking utensils and other things. I have a list, and am hoping some of you out there will lend a hand to supply those things on my list. Fry pans, cutting boards, cooking utensils, bowls, etc etc, and a coffee maker, and french press. If you would be willing to help out, donate or lend, even just one or two items would be most welcome, please email me here - vickiwhittle@me.com and I will send you through the list to look at.
