  1. We just crossed the border to renew our visa's. We WERE asked for our proof of airline return tickets. It seems as though Panama is headed were Equador is in relation to expat retiries. In Equador (we were there recently for two months) you get 90 days in a year (total). No border hopping. You can get another 90 day extension but it is not cheap and still retires the FBI background paper work along with all the rest of the paperwork. Or you can get the one year renewable which will cost when all is said and done about 2k per person. I think these folks are shooting them selves in the foot as many like us do not want to or have not yet decided if we want to stay in a paticular country indefinantly. Mexico was much easier. When we were living northern Costa Rica we talked to many expats that owned property and were chosing to sell (lot's of discount condo's in Coco beach) and leave the country due to these new laws as well as increasing taxation in Costa Rica. We will be leaving and if we ever decide to come back this will have to be a consideration. We are thinking Europe. This is going to cost Panama lot's. Just saying

Casual Strings Jam Session. If you want to learn guitar, teach, or share your musical experience come and join in. You can also bring a percussion instrument such as a cajon, bongos, shaker, tambourine, or harmonica to join in or just sit back, have a drink, and tap your foot. This a no cover jam session just for fun and learning. We are very open and have been playing folk, classic rock and blues stuff. But all styles are welcome. Cafe Villa at the BCP (just over the bridge on the right). You can contact me if you have questions. Dave @ cdavidscee@msn.com
  3. The casual jam session will meet again this Tuesday at the BCP "Cafe Villa". 3:30 to 5:30 come and join us. Bring an instrument or just sing along, tap your foot and have a beer. No charge just a fun gathering for those that want to learn, play or share their guitar playing with other music lovers.
  4. Had lunch here and highly recommend it. The "salad bar" is actually manned by staff who do a fabulous job of putting together your salad however and with whatever you want. Great dressings, friendly staff and just a nice pleasant experience! Not to mention the ability to buy fresh produce as you leave. I will be back. Might even become a regular.
  5. There is no charge but maybe buying a drink or two from Villa Cafe. This will be the third week and it is in the baby stages but as of right now we are trying to make it a weekly gathering and is dependent on the interest showed. So far enough folks have showed an interest to have a third week. Does that clear up your confusion?
  6. Villa Cafe at BCP at 3:30 until 5:30. Sorry....
  7. We had a great jam session last Tuesday. We had some blue grass, folk, blues and Guns & Roses "Sweet Child of Mine". We had some help with percussion on the cajon and maracas. Come sing along or tap your foot to "Hart of Gold" "Cinnamon Girl" "Knocking on Heavens Door" "Sweet Child of Mine". Have a beer or espesso and kick back.
  8. If you are interested in playing, learning or just jamming come hang with us. Folk, blues, classic rock? BCP Tuesday August 2nd at 3:30 until 5:30 or 6:00 Still working out the bugs and seeing if there is an interest so bring your stringed instrument, any stringed instrument, or harmonica, or tambourine or.......and let's do some strummin' and jammin'!
  9. If you are interested in playing, learning or just jamming come and hang with us. Folk, Blues and Classic rock? BCP Tuesday 19th @ 4pm. This is a trail period to see if there is any interest in having a (strumming and drinking night?) string's nights. So yes any stringed instrument is encouraged and any level.
  10. Hi Bud, KF7HDA here. Recently moved to Boquete and am interested in your Ham Club and bending your ear. Where will your next meeting be? Do you have an email or phone where you can be reached? Thanks, Dave
  11. I am looking for a pasture for a horse that is in a firld so small that not a single blade of grass grows. He stays in his shed most of the time and comes out for feeding. I was told that the owner has tried to give the horse away but no one wants an old nearly wild horse. When I was here two years ago I did some work with the horse and was able to make some pretty rapid progress with him. At first he would try to bite anyone who came close to him including me. In one months time I was able to be in the field with him, back him, do a little lunging (not much room for this) and lay on his back for short periods. So I think I can get him rideable and then maybe someone would want him. I will go down to the equestrian center tomorrow and talk to them. Probably need the field fence (I can do fence repairs) and if it had cover the horse to out of the rain that would be awesome but if not I can build a temp one. I also need to transport him. Thanks Dave
  12. We are looking a stationary bike A couple baseball gloves (right handed) any one who wants to volunteer translating (need not be fluent, just be able to be understood by Spanish speaker) mostly verbal. Thanks Dave
