  1. As a resident here for now over 14 years, my husband and I can vouch for the importance of Rodny's service which we have utilized more than once.  Both instances were life and death situations : 1. a neighbor's home invasion and another 2. neighbor falling and becoming paralyzed.   Neither were things you would ever imagine happening !  We called and  Rodny took over in both instances providing police and as well emergency medical assistance when we were unable to manage alone.  We were members...our neighbors were not at that time.  They are now!   Give a gift of Rodny's own 911 services for Christmas.   I can not think of a better gift.

  2. Black Labor on a White Canal Panama (1904-1981) by Michael L Conniff

This is an eye-opener of a book about black labor during the canal construction.  The amount to racial discrimination was off the charts then.  The school system for one had to be 100% separate.  (The education of the children  of black workers was actually far superior to that which was available to them in the USA.)    Anyway this was an interesting book to read albeit a tad boring with statistics at times.

  3. I went down on the elevator with a very nice young man and his parents.  He looked at me and said:  "I want to buy a cello and learn how to play".   I looked at him an said:: "Me too.  I bought one in Panama City, used after I heard my first concert of Dr Casal here.  "  He smiled and asked me for more information on how I found my cello. We both left enthusiastic hoping to one day be half as good as these players"  These concerts not only bring enjoyment but as well encouragement to try something new.

A bonus we never anticipated moving here !

  4. Happy New Years from the Brundage family.  We whooped it up at home.  Flossy enjoyed the dark space under our bed.  We enjoyed some beverages.....and so it went. The rain stopped and we enjoyed seeing all the money blown into the air all around us...for free.

Happy and Healthy New Year to all !!!!!!

  5. Bonnie reported that in spite of a lot of work and contributions of food they prepared, along with gifts and prizes the event was poorly attended.  Javier and Magaly need our help in order to provide a decent enclosure for sometimes 33 or more dogs they care for that are rescued.  They nurse the dogs back to health and do some training to help insure the dogs will be good pets.  They do all this certainly not to get rich nor to save up $ for a vacation on the Riviera.  Please please give just a little bit to help them.  It's not just the money, but to know you are appreciated goes a long way to keep them encouraged.
