The American firm New Balance announced today an investigation for unauthorized sale of the new shirt of the Panamanian team, "through the marketplace of Walmart", at a price below the "recommended".

"Recently, we have learned of the existence of a third party that is marketing the alleged t-shirts of Panama through the Walmart marketplace, at a price significantly lower than our suggested price," the transnational said in a statement released Wednesday in the Panamanian capital.

The firm stated that "this seller is not authorized by New Balance", and that the issue is "handling them very seriously and at this moment" there is an "investigation process".

It added that "it has always recommended to our fans the purchase of our t-shirts through authorized sellers in order to guarantee the authenticity of our products."

The official shirt that Panamanian team will wear at the 2018 World Cup - the first to be qualified by the Central American country – is sold for about 90 dollars, while the shirt offered through the retail giant costs almost 50 percent less.

At amateur level, the "exaggerated" price of the shirt has been criticized, while the customs authorities persecute those who sell the "pirated shirts", most of them from Peru, so the sale through Walmart was "viralized" through social networks in recent days.

"At New Balance we take our relationship with the FEPAFUT (Panamanian Football Federation) very seriously and, more importantly, with all the Panamanian fans," the firm said.

It recalled that during the past four years, "it has been a great honor to accompany the National Team of Panama, along with the women's football team, the U23 players and the Beach Soccer and Futsal teams, among others, in their tournaments around the world".

New Balance has its headquarters in Boston (USA), manufactured in the United States for more than 75 years the "New Balance Made", which is "a Premium collection that contains a national value of 70 percent or more", employs more than 6,000 people worldwide and in 2017 recorded global sales of 4,000 million dollars, it said.
