Panama: Restriction on Food Imports

One of the objectives of the law on food safety approved by the National Assembly is to prevent imports of agricultural products during local harvest periods.

April 26, 2018. The general framework that governs the agricultural sector for food security and sovereignty, through the implementation of an inclusive and sustainable State policy, unanimously was received in a third debate in the plenary session.

Bill 628, presented by the president of the Legislative Body, Yanibel Ábrego, has as a national priority, the establishment of policies, strategies, plans, programs, projects and actions aimed at fulfilling the human right to adequate food for the national population.
