It came from a heavy storm bringing unaccustomed hail. According to Etesa meteorologists, it was owing to a local storm cell accompanied by a low-pressure system and wind-driven clouds that created an unstable atmosphere. http://www.newsroompanama.com/news/panama/ice-gathered-panamas-coastal-strip
Keith Woolford
Once again, Newsroom uses a file photo that totally misrepresents a situation. We were right down there on Avenida Balboa on Thursday evening and although there was some sleety rain for a while, we didn't see any hail. Not saying some didn't fall somewhere but there certainly wouldn't have been any icebergs as shown.
Moderators Moderator_02 Posted January 21, 2018 Author Moderators Share Posted January 21, 2018 Glad to read your feedback. Something that size would possibly go through the roof of a vehicle, and certainly would kill someone if hit on the head.
Marcelyn
Not sure but maybe these pictures of hail/snow were taken in our backyard. It seemed cold enough yesterday. Even our Husky was looking for a warm place to nap.
