According to an article in Telemetro today, this proposal will continue in the Assembly in the next session. I assume they are talking about THC-removed cannabinoids.

At the next session, the deputies of the National Assembly (AN) will discuss a bill that approves the medicinal use of marijuana in Panama, for people who suffer from certain diseases.

Miguel Mayo, head of Health, said that several meetings will be held this week for analysis, to see what would be the indications for use.

"It creates an interesting debate, is an interesting debate, where as a mature society, we must talk about it," said the head of Health, but he clarified that it is important to not become a debate about the recreational use of marijuana.

To be approved the initiative, Mayo said that the product for medicinal use is to be sold exclusively in pharmacies, and would have restrictions by prescription in some medical specialties.

He explained that in the beginning, the medicinal use of marijuana was used in patients with terminal cancer to increase appetite, but at present it is typically used for patients with refractory epilepsy.
