This dog needs your help

Hi all, please note the gofundme account noted above is for Javier and Magaly who run their dog camp for boarding and also do rescues.  They are currently boarding several ARF rescues.  ARF is a separate organization.  We are 100% non-profit.  To donate please go to:  http://www.arf-boquete.com/donate.html

Thanks for the clarification on ARF being separate .

That said ,  I wouldn't wish to imply that Javier and Magaly are making profit. I seriously doubt that.  They play an important role on care of the rescue dogs in our town and are a support in the care of the ARF dogs needing housing and care, devoting their lives to the animals.

A very good friend and responsible pet owner had their dog boarded there, Javier and Magaly.

Upon picking the dog up it was loaded with fleas and ticks. Despite being on a tick and flea preventative. If they need flea and tick preventions we would be happy to donate as long as it is part of an ongoing program.

Certainly the kennel they wish to build with their Go-Fund-Me project would be of a major help in that regard.  Any donation you give to them as well as to ARF is always appreciated I'm sure.  https://www.gofundme.com/helpanimalsboquete  Here's their link on that.

ARF's link: arf.boquete@gmail.com,

Good idea on the flea and tick prevention donation for both !

It sounds as though the dogs need to be relocated or kept inside for a day and the property sprayed. Given the number of stray dogs Magaly and Javier take in, it does not surprise me that they would have a flea and tick problem. A good donation might be a professional spray job.

Hi this Javier, we never had any tick problem at the DogCamp, I invite to you to come and check. All the time we are boarding dogs and they all return to the DogCamp because I think people and the dogs always have a good experience. In the past Arf donate to us some flea collars because they saw some fleas on two dogs, but we never had a tick or flea problem. Maybe the owner you are referring is our friend Lucy Conner, one time she immediately let us know that Mizty, her dog , was with a few fleas , and we immediately solved that, then she brought Mizty for a second time and when she left we asked to her again if she saw some fleas on her, she said no ... and now we are boarding Mizty for a third time in this moment. Again, WE DONT HAVE a tick or flea problem, our friend Lisa Mosley paid for fumigating the shelter and all the time we are spraying products that we buy, against insects and bath the dogs or spray them for fleas. If someone wants to donate flea collars for the dogs, your are more than welcome!!

To clarify, we are first of all animal rescuers, we rescue animals in our country even before to come to Panama, we wanted to create a DogCamp because when we started to rescue dogs here in Boquete, we didn't have any place to put the dogs. So we decided to find a place for our rescued dogs, and in the other hand for making a living for us, but always having as a priority our place for the stray and abused dogs. We decided to board dogs, because we think we have some knowledge and experience about dog behavior and we our warranty is that we never had any dog fight in our place, NEVER, our dogs eat together and they get along with our two cats. All the dogs that arrive here, they could be pitbulls, rottweiler, poodle, labrador, mixed dogs, etc, since they first moment they come to DogCamp they are learning to be dogs again.

We charge 15 dollars for boarding dogs, per day. From all the 33 dogs we have here, we are boarding now only one dog, Mizty, so she is not included in the rescue group. We are helping 8 Arf's dogs, in the past we had 13 Arf's dogs, we support each other in this way, I want to explain, we made some numbers and we have the deal that they pay 540 dollars monthly for all the Arf's dogs that arrive here. For example in the past, it means 540/13dogs = 41.54 per dog, per month,  it means 41.54/30days = 1.38 per dog, per day, this number was when we had 13 Arf's dogs.    Now we have 8 Arf dogs,  and if we make numbers again, 540/8dogs=67.50 per dog, per month... it means 67.50/30days = 2.25 per dog, per day.

We use that money for paying the rent of the place, electricity bill, internet.

So it means all the rest of dogs we need to see how to help them, so since one month ago we started to make fundraising events for the DogCamp at the Animales Clinic Building.

At the end we are also a non-profit organization of JUST TWO people that do these things :

1.To go and talk with bad owners,

2.To rescue dogs, from the street or from a bad owner,

3.To take them to the vet, asking someone for transportation or just taking a taxi and most of taxi driver doesn't like animals on their cars. (We don't like them either haha!)

4.To give the medical treatment,

5.To give psychological treatment because they come with some traumas and fears,

6.To be aware of the adoption process, it means to be sure if our dogs are being adopted by good owners and check the houses of them.

7. To give some advices to the new owners in order the adoption works,

8.To Have the DogCamp in good conditions (when we found the place it was almost abandoned, now is a different place and we will do more       improvements).
