Tender: $20 million to build schools

The Ministry of Education in Panama is putting out to tender the construction and equipping of several educational centers in the provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Veraguas.

"Description design, preparation and approval of plans, construction of new infrastructures, supply of furniture, remodeling and improvement to the La Primavera school, Santiago district, Santiago district, Veraguas province."

The deadline for receipt of bids is 13 September 2017.

"Project: design, plan development and construction of schools: Quebrada Pastor, Río Oeste Arriba and Río Oeste Abajo located in: Changuinola district and Bocas del Toro province, Republic of Panama."

$40 Million to Build Education Center

The Panamanian government has submitted an environmental impact study to build and equip a comprehensive educational and cultural center in the city of Chitré, in the province of Herrera.

The Ministry of the Presidency of Panama plans to design, build and equip an integral educational center, which will have a convention center, an amphitheater, exhibition hall, restaurants and 300 parking spaces. 

The EIA presented to the Ministry of Environment states that the comprehensive education center José Daniel Crespo, will benefit a population of 5 thousand students and will have 60 preschool classrooms, indoor gymnasium, athletics track, courts and Olympic swimming pool. 

The document indicates that it will also include medical room, facilities for people with disabilities and a gymnastics area, among other things.

The estimated investment is $40.771.945.

President Varela announced this project almost a year ago. Doesn't look like the government is gong to fast track it in the same fashion as the Green Convention Centre in El Francès

Panama: $23 million for Educational Infrastructure

The construction of a school in Panamá Oeste and a university building in Chiriquí are part of the projects for which environmental impact studies were submitted in August.

La Asociación de Religiosos de San Agustín submitted an EIA to build and equip an educational campus which will have teaching classrooms, sports courts, parking lots, a church and administrative offices. The project that is called "Colegio San Agustín" and will be located in La Chorrera, province of Panamá Oeste, and according to the study the investment amount is $18.5 million.

The Autonomous University of Chiriquí submitted an EIA to build a three-story building that will house a teachers' lounge, library, administrative offices and parking lots. The construction of the "Facultad de Medicinas de la Unachi" will be located in the district of David, province of Chiriquí, and according to the document the investment amount is $4.3 million.

Panama: $92 million for Educational Infrastructure

This year the Ministry of Education plans to allocate $92.5 million for the construction, renovation and maintenance of schools in different areas of the country.

Authorities at the Ministry of Education (Meduca) explained that out of the $92.5 million, almost $76 million will go towards building and renovating schools nationwide, and another $17 million will be allocated to maintenance work.

Deputy Minister Ricardo Pinzón explained to Elcapitalfinanciero.com that "... around 60% of the budget has been allocated, and progress has been made in executing 45%."

"... He explained that all schools in the country are included in the maintenance plan through the different programs to be served.  In Panama there are 3,086 educational centers attending to 597,968 students."
