Wow, these folks just don't give a hoot. Over 35,000 tickets issued so far this year for driving without a valid License.

If we don't want these people on the road, we shouldn't be complaining about the Police 'checking documents' at the Caldera turnoff Checkpoint or anywhere else.

They need tougher laws. Obviously what they have now is not working. If they caught 35,000 so far this year can you imagine how many are still out there?

Checking documents does not prevent horrible car wrecks, patrolling the highways for reckless behavior does, with the resources available, in my opinion.

To be clear, the limited transito resources are being used for the wrong activity.

Unlicensed and/or uninsured drivers are reckless by definition and present a risk to others.

Removing these offenders from the highways improves safety for everyone else, imo.

The Transit Regulations are OK, imo, it's the penalties for ignoring them which require adjustment.

Keith, I know accidents can happen, but remembering your recent posting about the large number of people driving without a valid license. My question is how many of these accidents are caused by people behind the wheel but have no license i.e. have no right to drive.
