Expecting the unexpected can only prepare a person for so many circumstances.

This insane crash occurred down the highway this afternoon in front of the basketball court in El Frances.

It appears that another Bomberos vehicle was responsible.

Just curious. Are we beginning to see a pattern/problem here?

Speed.

Question: I wonder how much time is actually saved by increasing speed ....  OK, I just found this chart:

SPEED VS TIME TAKEN FOR 60 MILES

Speed (mph)    Time (minutes)

70 mph              51.4 min

80 mph              45 min

90 mph              40 min

"Run for cover ! Bomberos on the road !"

Aerodynamically this one had to be spectacular.  Simply amazing that no one was seriously injured.

Didn't a car land in a tree several years back?

Seems the alert message for today is: Watch out for flying small cars, the yellow screamers, and now Bomberos on the road.

What will tomorrow bring? :S

There is a video of the bombero driving off the road and launching on top of the two cars on Chiriqui Noticias posted 45 min. ago.  Looks like distraction as opposed to speed and loss of control.

Yikes, someone caught it on their dashcam.  dash cam.MP4

The Bomberos hit a driveway culvert hard enough to put the busito into flight where it turned 180 degrees before landing on the cars and the roof of the building.

The passenger, a senior volunteer fireman, has two broken legs.  The driver escaped w/o injury.

I had a friend who's son was speeding on Vocancito Rd and flew into some treetops.  After a minute "rest" it fell to the ground....  He walked away uninjured, and when they pulled the car up it started and was able to be driven....   Crazy luck some people have.

On Facebook they are reporting that the driver suffered a heart attack.  That seems plausible, as there were no brake lights.

Surprisingly, the unit of the Fire Department that drove the minibus that suffered an accident on Sunday afternoon, in the sector of El Francés in the district of Boquete, scored positive by performing the breathalyzer test by traffic units in the province of Chiriquí.

It was learned that once registered the traffic accident where the minibus of the Fire Department collided with the infoplaza located in El Francés and later fell on two vehicles that were kept parked, proceeded to perform the breathalyzer test to the driver, who marked 58% alcohol

During the traffic accident the driver of the firefighters minibus with plate 892473, named Martin Palma, 62 years old, presented minor injuries and his companion Roger Rovira, of 79 years, both volunteers of the firemen, had to be taken to a hospital center to receive medical attention.

A video that has circulated on social networks, shows how the driver of another vehicle that was traveling on the road that leads from Dolega to Boquete, and that moves behind the injured bus, records the precise moment when the minibus goes off the track to the right hand and it crashes against the infoplaza.

The condition of the two people traveling in the minibus of the firefighters are in stable condition and remain in the Rafael Hernández regional hospital under observation, due to the injuries suffered as a result of the crash and overturning.

In the last two months units of the "red shirts" have been involved in traffic accidents on board vehicles owned by the institution.

Yes, Pat, Facebook has been taking some heavy hits lately, along with some of the content of questionable value, i.e., the so-called fake news. However, let's not cause this topic to go off-topic and cause me extra work, please.

This Boquete bound bus was off in the raspberries just south of Brisas late this morning. It must have have been a bumpy ride for the passengers.

If my count information is correct, this is number two. How many more vehicles are owned by Bomberos? Maybe the “raspberries bus” is a candidate?

Well, it definitely seems the Bomberos are short a few guys now, drivers in particular.

You could become a Volunteer, an asset to the community.

No surprise here. Prosecutors want a change in Ferrufino’s bail conditions because of this incident.

I wish ATTT would pay attention to the speeders in Volcan. They could no doubt collect $1,000 or more per day in fines (plus help reduce the number of dangerous speeders!). Long ago I sent them a message of this fact via Twitter. No response, no results.

Judge clips wings of drunk driving ex-Minister

ferrufino-620x264.jpg
Guillermo Ferrufino
Post Views: 273

An ex-Minister of Social Development in the Martinelli government awaiting trial on corruption charges and recently involved in a drunk driving escapade has had his wings clipped by a  criminal court judge.

On Monday, April 9  judge Leslie Loaiza toughened the precautionary measures faced by would-be playboy  Guillermo Ferrufino who was booked in Chiriqui for drunk driving and driving with an expired license.

Ferrufino was once a  rising star in the Martinelli entourage with presidential ambitions. He was persuaded by his mentor to lower his sights but suddenly resigned after a widely reported incident at a party at his,  home.

He is now confined to Panama province and prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages in public places or activities outside his home, as well as being prohibited from leaving the province of Panama.

The former minister,  a possible flight suspect, is also prohibited from sailing in Panamanian territorial waters and the use of Panamanian airspace.

He was informed that any infringement would lead to tougher sanctions such as a return to preventive detention.

Prosecutors had asked for the change of the “country arrest”precautionary measure enjoyed by Ferrufino, after being booked on March 18 driving drunk and with an expired license.
