Panamanian authorities deported or expelled foreign 425 foreigners between January and May of this year "migratory" infractions, most of them citizens of Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and China.

Statistics of the National Migration Service (NMS) of Panama realize that in the first five months of the year 297 foreigners were deported 128 and expelled from the country "in a final and permanent.manner"

Among the deportees or expelled are Colombians (131), Cuban (87), Venezuelans (36), Nicaraguans (29), Chinese (25), Ecuadorans (22) and Dominicans (22), according to the authorities.

Also 11 Mexicans, 10 Pakistanis, 7 Hondurans, 5 Brazilians, 5 Salvadorans, 5 Guatemalans, 4 Peruvians, 3 U.S.A. citizens, 3 Czechs, 3 Jamaicans, 2 Canadians, 2 Haitians and 2 Kosovars, among other nationalities, according to official data.

Among the migratory offenses alleged by the authorities are "entered the country irregularly (230); to be a threat to the collective security (89); they have served their prison sentence in the Panamanian prison system (46).

Also: remain undocumented (23); public security (17); engage in behaviors that conflict with the moral (12) and work without the corresponding visa (8).

The SNM also stated that the voluntary return to their country was led by Nicaraguans (475), followed by Colombian (209), Venezuelans (149), Dominicans (66), (25), Cuban (21), Chinese (19) and (16).

The past 31 May came into force a Panamanian decree that reduced from 180 to 90 days stay in Panama to tourists from Colombia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, a measure that seeks to discourage the illegal stay of those citizens in the Central American country, according to the authorities.

The decree was sued as being unconstitutional before the Supreme Court of Panama last June 5 by the attorney Gilberto Cruz, who argued that it is discriminatory and should be applied to all nationalities.

The official decree indicates that the reduction in the length of stay of the citizens of Colombia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua is taken considering the large number of foreigners who, after entering as tourists, carried out different activities" to that status "without requesting the change of migratory category".

Because of its economic strength and stability, Panama has been in recent years one of the most chosen by many migrants from the region, mainly Venezuelans, Colombians and Central Americans.

Also coming to Panama are nationals of 51 other "friendly countries", including Americans and Europeans, covered in an executive decree of 2013 non-reciprocal migratory advantages given to them and for obtaining work visas.
