Keith Woolford
Protests Against Law that Proposes to Take Control of Rural Aqueducts Hundreds of managers and members of the Rural Aqueduct Administrative Boards and community from across the province of Chiriqui, staged a protest march through the streets of the city of David. The demonstrators are in disagreement with the draft legislation that aims to modernise and make changes to the law of the Institute of National Water Supply and Sewerage Systems (IDAAN). The complainants described a lack of consultation, that this draft law which aims to privatize water in their communities is harmful and not suitable, in addition to giving it to IDAAN, an institution that throughout the country has demonstrated inefficiency. In the middle of the march, the spokesmen of these Rural Aqueduct Administrative Boards and their supporters said they are in a state of alert and did not rule out more vigorous actions of protests in their communities, if this draft law is not eliminated. http://www.tvn-2.com/nacionales/provincias/Chiricanos-pretende-quitarles-administracion-acueductos_0_4750774891.html
