Keith Woolford Posted May 4, 2017 Share Posted May 4, 2017 Darien Shootout with Border Police Leaves 4 Dead The National Border Service (Senafront) engaged a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking for two days in the Darien. Four people, allegedly of Colombian nationality, were killed, according to a statement issued today Wednesday 3 May by the Public Ministry. It all began in April, with the HASPA operation, designed to stop drug trafficking in Panama and dismantle a criminal group operating in the region. During the operation, agents of the Senafront exchanged fire with members of the criminal group in the margins of the Rio Tupiza in Darien. After an investigation, it was determined that 30 men alleged Colombian nationality had entered territories Panamanians, armed and ready to engage in drug trafficking using the river tupiza in the Emberá-Wounan, Cemaco until you reach the town of Yaviza in Darién province. The 30 April, Special Forces of the Senafront placed several suspects on the banks of the Tupiza. In the early hours of 2 May exchanged fire, killing one of the drug traffickers. During the morning of Wednesday 3 they were encountered again, leaving 3 dead on this occasion of the criminal organization. Two firearms, an R15 rifle, an AK-47 and ammunition, were recovered.
