A notice to prevent the increase in wind speed was issued on Tuesday by the National System of Civil Protection (SINAPROC).

The prognosis of the department of Hydrometeorology of Etesa, indicates the existence of a high pressure system over the Atlantic Ocean and a low pressure system on Colombia, which is generating a pressure gradient accelerated over the entire national territory.

Details what is expected the presence of winds with speeds of between 30 and 45 kilometers per hour with gusts higher, mainly in the provinces of Coclé, Chiriquí, the Azuero Peninsula and mountainous sectors.

In addition warns about maritime conditions after noon today, due to the high tide will be producing strong currents in semi-closed areas such as bays in the Azuero peninsula and the Gulf of Panama.

Also the marked areas located in Panama City, Panama West, Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas and Chiriqui is might be affected by this phenomenon.

THE PANAMA Maritime Authority (AMP) announced Sunday, March 5 that the cautionary warning directed to small craft and boats with outboard motors has been extended for 72 hours.
The renewed alert is due to continuing strong winds and adverse sea conditions with wage surges.
The measure aims to achieve safe navigation, on the coastline and offshore until Tuesday afternoon, March 7.

The AMP, warns marinas, boat owners and tourism companies to redouble their security measures to protect people, boats and other property.

A BEACH was closed, entry to a national park forbidden,  and  boats were banned from mooring to buoys in some parts of the Atlantic Coast, following a high waves and wind  alert on Sunday, Mar.5.

Winds of up to 80 km an hour and waves up to 3.9 meters were forecast, and to cap it all there were high and extreme UV ratings.

At El Arenal beach in Pedasi, Playa  Reina in Veraguas,  and Gorgona in West Panama, bathing was prohibited Many beaches on the Pacific coast were affected by winds at over 60  kilometers per hour.

Etesa Hydro-meteorological Service said that similar  winds would also be experiences  in the high and lowlands of Chiriquí and in the Coclé Province.

Etesa alo  predictede scattered clouds and weak rains in north Coclé, north and east of Panama, and rains “of varying intensity” in the Chiriqui Highlands where Baru Vocanic National Park was closed.

The entire Caribbean slope, faced  “windy conditions”  generating  waves of up to 3.9 meters.

Boats warning
In the Guna Yala indigenous region, authorities banned boat buoys at Agligandí and Dubwala, due to strong waves, The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) issued a statement in recommending smaller craft with outboard engines and increase their safety measures.

Authorities are looking for a 24-year-old man who was reported missing in the Antón Valley a mountainous tourist area in the province of Coclé. The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported the search operation on its Twitter account, but gave no further details.

There is an advisory up to May 7th to stay off the beaches due to "Mar de Fondo". High tides and backwash out the estuaries from heavy rains.

This truck between tossed around in the waves down by Coronado here is a Toyota Hilux, so it will probably start again.

A WRNING  oof waves of up to 3 meters  and a strong undertow along Panama’s Pacific Coast has been issued  by  the Civil Protection System (SINAPROC).

The  agency  says  the alert will be maintained from April 29 through May 7  and the population,  is warned to pay  special attention to rising tides  and the presence of high and frequent waves at any time and to obey  warning notices.

Sinaproc warns people to stay away from beach areas because of possible sudden tide surges  and to comply with the recommendations of the security departments.

The National Emergency Operations Center (COE),  will monitor vulnerable areas  like  Puerto Caimito (West Panama), Playa Leona (West Panama), El Salado de Aguadulce (Coclé), Puerto Armuelles (Chiriquí), Boca La Caja (Panama City), Gonzalo Vásquez Island (Panama).
