This testimonial is in Spanish. The story is that this Costa Rican traveler, who was enroute from New York, got stuck in Panama last week because of volcanic activity in CR but was afforded excellent service by COPA Airlines.

Usualmente las redes sociales se usan como un medio para denunciar y criticar, es uno de los instrumentos más poderosos para hacerlo y para ser escuchados exactamente por quienes necesitamos.
Pero estos espacios también deben fomentar prácticas diferentes, en las que hablemos de las cosas buenas y resaltemos cosas positivas y que vale la pena que la gente sepa.
Yo fui una de las personas a las que recientemente la ceniza le impidió llegar a Costa Rica, venía desde New York, viajé con Copa haciendo escala por Panamá, venía absolutamente agotada, con ganas de llegar a mi casa, a mi cama y abrazar a mi perro. La gente no se imagina lo que implica darle cobertura a un Fashion Week, si mi equipo y yo dormimos cuatro horas por día... fue mucho. En fin, veníamos agotados y al llegar a Panamá nos enteramos de las noticias de las explosiones del volcán, retrasaron el vuelo y mientras tanto el cansancio fue tanto que no pude evitar dormirme en la alfombra del Gate... tengo que decir que contrario a lo que podrían creer, no me cuesta nada ni me da vergüenza acomodarme en cualquier lado y dormir. En fin... Llegó la noche y declararon el vuelo cancelado y mientras otros amigos que estaban en otros lugares en la misma situación que yo, sin poder llegar a Costa Rica, hubo una diferencia que marcó el trato que se nos dio a cada uno. En la mayoría de los casos las aerolíneas mandaron a la gente a "buscar vida", a solucionar adonde dormir y a regresar uno o dos días después con la esperanza de poder salir. En cambio a todos los que íbamos en los diversos vuelos de Copa hacia Costa Rica, nos facilitaron hospedaje, transporte, alimentación... y el mejor de los tratos independientemente de si viajabamos en clase ejecutiva o no. Copa se hizo responsable hasta del más mínimo detalle y le dio a sus usuarios, sin tener responsabilidad por lo que estaba sucediendo, la mejor experiencia posible dadas las circunstancias.

Una aerolínea así... es digna de ser aplaudida y recomendada. Y es bueno saber que para ciertas marcas el cliente sigue siendo la prioridad.

Punctuality Copa seeking 250 pilots

COPA AIRLINES company is searching for  250 Panamanian pilots  “to fly the most modern and fastest growing fleet in the region,”  says the aviation company’s recruiting team

“This year we will be hiring 250 first officers to cover our 2018 growth and part of the 2019 growth,” says a company statement. The pilots must be prepared to fly Boeing aircraft B737 NG and Embraer 190.

Pilots must have level four English according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Copa president  Pedro Heilbron announced on January 29 that the airline plans to create 800 new jobs this year, of which more than 130 will be pilots.

Copa Airlines, and expects to reach 10,052 workers this year

The airline, one of the most important in Latin America and a member since 2012 of Star Alliance, transported a total of 13.5 million people, in 2017  representing an increase of 7.1 percent.

The company also increased the supply of seats to 16.7 million, 9 percent more than in 2016.

Copa Airlines is considered the most punctual airline in Latin America by the US consultancy FlightStats and the fourth most punctual airline in the world by the British Official Airline Guide (OAG).

Copa Airlines, has been identified by the digital magazine Money of Time Inc as one of the best airlines to travel in Latin America thanks to its extraordinary punctuality.

With a punctuality rate of 86.56%,  it was recognized for the fifth consecutive year by FlightStats as “The most punctual airline in Latin America”.

According to the Official Airline Guide (OAG), of London, the punctuality results during 2017 allowed that Copa, in addition to being recognized for its punctuality in Latin America, was also “The fourth most punctual airline in the world”

The selection comes from an evaluation of 70 major international airlines, taking into consideration costs, customer experience, and flight performance, selecting the best options for economy class travelers.

From the Hub of the Americas, located at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Copa Airlines connects to  78 destinations in 32 countries in the Americas.

Copa Airlines was chosen as "The most punctual commercial airline in the world" and, for the sixth consecutive year, as "The most punctual commercial airline in Latin America," the Panamanian airline announced today.

The aeronautical analysis companies OAG (Official Airline Guide, London) and Flight Stats, respectively, granted this recognition after evaluating the punctuality performance of the most important airlines globally in 2018. Being punctuality one of the most relevant metrics of the commercial aviation industry.

Both distinctions "reflect the airline's human team commitment, demonstrating once again that its need to satisfy the priorities of its passengers, who rely on Copa Airlines on a daily basis to reach their destinations on time," the airline said in a public statement.

Copa Airlines is a subsidiary of Copa Holdings and a member of the global Star Alliance airline network.

The president of Copa Airlines, Pedro Heilbron, said that the distinction gives pride to the entire work team of this company, Heilbron highlighted "the key work for our operation of the Civil Aeronautics Authority, such as those performed daily by the control tower and the Air Control Center, and Tocumen International Airport, entities that have provided the necessary conditions to achieve the best level of punctuality in the industry. This result arises from the tracking of nearly 120,000 flights per day, operated and serviced by hundreds of airlines and airports.

The selection, according to Copa, was based on the analysis of flight status and arrival data from more than 600 world sources, including civil aviation authorities, airports and third parties.

He added that these acknowledgments reaffirm that punctuality is the hallmark of Copa Airlines, an aspect valued by international organizations and passengers for many years.

"We are committed to offering the highest levels of punctuality in the world as well as satisfy the needs of our passengers, who rely on Copa Airlines on a daily basis to reach their destinations on time," said Heilbron.

Copa Airlines operates an average of 350 daily flights through the Hub of the Americas, the biggest international flight hub of connections in the region, located at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, from where it connects 80 cities in 32 countries. of North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Copa Airlines was recognized as a “Five Star Airline” in the APEX Official Airline Rating 2020, awarded by the Association of Airline Passenger Experience (APEX), one of the most important associations in the worldwide aviation industry.

The APEX Official Airline Ratings bases the recognition on the comments, opinions and scores of the passengers, through the association

Using a scale of one to five stars, more than one million flights were rated by passengers on almost 600 airlines around the world , between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019.

 Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, said it is a pride to receive that recognition, "which is the result of the teamwork of the more than 9,000 Copa Airlines employees throughout the region.

For the seventh successive year Copa Airlines has been named  “the most punctual airline in Latin America”.

The recognition comes from Cirium, a company that until 2019 published under the signature of FlightStat. The airline registered a punctuality index higher than 92% during 2019, the highest among the more than 500 airlines evaluated.

OAG (Official Airline Guide) in London, distinguished Copa Airlines as " the second most punctual airline in the world ", consolidating it in the top 5 worldwide for the fifth consecutive year.

The recognitions of Cirium and the OAG ratify the commitment and responsibility of the airline with its passengers, by consolidating for the fifth consecutive year in the top 5 of the most punctual airlines in the world,

Copa Airlines also obtained the highest rating  in  all of America and worldwide (92.16%) among the 500 airlines evaluated by OAG

To establish its results, OAG analyzed more than 57.7 million flight registrations made by more than 250 airlines, between January 1 and December 31, 2019.
