Recent changes in the weekend quarantine (total lock-down) for Chiriqui Province were confusing and seem to have been misunderstood by some. On July 25th the Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Sucre, clarified that in the provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Colón people can transit regularly from Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. However, a full weekend lock-down for Chiriqui and other regions was also implemented, with the weekend lock-down starting at 7:00PM on Friday and ending at 5:00AM on the following Monday. Some have interpreted the weekend lock-down as being applicable only to the weekend after that announcement. Subsequent information confirms that the weekend lock-downs will continue for every weekend until formal announcement to the contrary. Even official information from the US Consulate confirms that weekend lock-downs are applicable to certain provinces, including Chiriqui.
