  •  No cruzar calles anegadas

Continuity of light to moderate downpours with heavy intervals and possible electric shock.

The Office of Forecast and Meteorological Watch of Etesa foresees conditions of rains and storms within the next 72 hours over the country.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone remains active, coupled with the low pressure of Colombia and the passage of Tropical Wave No. 3, which maintains its axis from eastern Cuba to northern Colombia.

"The forecast indicates the entry of Tropical Wave No. 3 in the night and early hours of this Saturday, moving during the next 24 hours," reported the National Civil Protection System.

The rains are expected to register from moderate to heavy in western sectors, in areas of Panama, Colón and neighboring provinces.

Given this forecast, the National Emergency Operations Center (COE), issued from 3:00 pm on Friday, May 29 to 3:00 pm on Monday, June 1, Notice of Prevention (Surveillance and Monitoring) , after atmospheric instability, typical of the country's rainy season.

The COE recommends light boats to take extreme security measures in maritime areas.

Areas vulnerable to floods and landslides must follow the preventive measures indicated by Sinaproc, such as:

  • Do not cross rivers or streams because the water heads are sudden and dangerous
  • Do not cross flooded streets
  • Slow down your vehicle if you are driving during the rains

Sinaproc will carry out monitoring throughout the country and asks the population to stay informed through official accounts.

Yes, and there are another three tropical waves marching in sequence behind this one. They are about 3 days' apart, depending on their speed across the Atlantic and the Caribbean. The three weather charts posted below are 24-hour, 48-hour, and 72-hour looks ahead. They show the expected progression of the tropical waves. The major wind/precipitation occurs with and behind the wave, so it looks like Monday and Tuesday will be quite wet in Western Panama.
