A  son of Supreme Court judge Cecilio Cedalise was arrested by National Police (PN)  agents on Wednesday, December 4    carrying an unlicensed pistol an offense that could carry an 8-10 year jail sentence.

According to preliminary reports, Cedalise's son was apprehended for showing a suspicious attitude and after a review it was found that he was carrying a firearm.

The magistrate's son who reportedly wanted to jump the line in a tax office and was stopped by a Municipal Police officer allegedly threatened another individual, claiming he had a firearm and could use it. Some citizens alerted the National Police.

The agents intercepted the vehicle in which the magistrate's son was traveling and found a 9 mm pistol and ammunition. Judge Cedalise's son did not have the required permits.

There is a possibility that he will be presented before a judge of guarantees in the accusatory criminal system in West Panama.

After it was announced that Cedalise would be a magistrate of the Supreme Court, he was criticized because through social networks in December 2015 photos of one of his children showing a firearm appeared on social networks.

During the National Assembly Credentials Committee interviews, Cedalise was questioned about the photos and replied that he had tried to be the best father.

According to the article. 333 of the Criminal Code, a person who possesses a firearm without proper authorization will be punished with eight to ten years in prison.

Now that is different.....threatening a person with a gun in the tax line so that you can get farther up in the line.   I wonder if tax evasion carries the same penalty as threatening a person with an unlicensed gun which he had in possession.  I am sure that after his father the judge spanks him hard he will explain that to him.

Cristian Antonio Cedalise,32, the son of Supreme Court judge Cecilio Cedalise is in provisional detention,  on the orders of Judge of Guarantees, Xavier Flores.

On Thursday, December 5,  he was charged with possession and trafficking of weapons and explosives found in his car after having an argument with one of the security agents of a municipal office in Arraiján.

The public defender, Greici Morcillo, requested bail of $5,000, which was denied.

At the hearing, the Prosecutor's Office showed that the 9 mm firearm that the defendant held in his possession had been assembled with parts of other weapons.

Deputy Prosecutor Yatnizel González, , said that other types of proceedings will follow.

Gonzalez revealed that the public defense appealed the judge's decision and said that she will also appeal the defense's request.

The judge of guarantees will analyze the appeal on  Wednesday, December 11.

According to article 333 of the Criminal Code, a person who possesses a firearm without proper authorization will be punished with a penalty of eight to ten years in prison.

An  appeals court granted the precautionary measure of house arrest to the son of  Supreme Court Judge Cecilio Cedalise.  The 30-year-old  was arrested in Arraiján for carrying a firearm without permission, a crime that carries a sentence of 8-10 years behind bars.

Judicial sources confirmed that at a hearing held on December 11, the Superior Court of Appeals revoked the measure of preventive detention  for,  applied by a judge of guarantees of the Arraiján Criminal Accusatory System.

Judge Cedalise's son must also report to the authorities on the 15th and 30th of each month. In addition, the prohibition of approaching the Municipality of Arraiján was applied.

Cedalise's arrest came after a citizen's call alerted National Police units that the man had threatened a security guard at the Transit Office of the Municipality of Arraiján, in the province of Panama Oeste.

According to article No. 333 of the Criminal Code, a person who possesses a firearm without proper authorization will be punished with a penalty of eight to ten years in prison.

Meanwhile, the Public Ministry is carrying out investigations to establish the origin of the firearm, which was sent by the Criminalistics Directorate for several ballistic tests.

Someone who is charged with a crime that carries an 8 to 10 year sentence is being released on house arrest with no cash bail?

That's crazy. Corruption rules.

Christian Cedalise the wayward son of Supreme Court Judge, Cecilio Cedalise, who was already under house arrest facing weapons charges is one of three men ordered to preventive detention on Thursday, March 19 after the National Police seizure of 130 kilos of drugs in Colon and the arrest of nine people during a drug smuggling raid.
