Electricity: Thermal Generation Upwards

Partly determined by the behavior of the energy supply from thermal sources, between January and July 2018 and the same period in 2019 the electricity generation in Panama grew 4%.

According to the latest report of the General Comptroller of Panama, in the first seven months of 2019 were generated 6,503 million kwh, which is equivalent to a 3.6% increase over the 6,503 million offered in the same period of 2018.

The figures specify that from January to July in the country were offered 3,258 million kwh of electricity generated from renewable sources, including hydropower, wind and solar, a figure that is 33.4% lower than the 4,889 million kwh reported in the same period of 2018.

For the periods concerned the generation of electricity by thermal sources increased 119%, going from 1,248 million kwh to 2,734 million kwh.
