Boquete Health and Hospice Sponsor Chiriqui's First Blood Drive!                                Once upon a time, (actually only a few months ago), an embryonic concept was put in motion and the Blood Donor Initiative Team was born.  The team quickly geared up to create the FIRST EVER Blood Drive in Boquete.  Despite this having never been done here, a language barrier for some, and cultural constraints, the team set forth with a Champions Program designed to inform and engage local businesses and their employees.  THE MISSION: To save more lives by improving the availability of blood to all members of the community.  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!  47 pints of blood collected at the event made it a huge success.  Thank you Boquete! OUR NEW GOAL is 60 Pints Collected! Increased staff and donor chairs will facilitate a larger number of donors. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!  Join our effort to SAVE LIVES by donating blood or bringing ONE person to donate.  Reserve a donor spot at info@boquetehealth.org   Stats from our June 15 Boquete Blood Drive: 47 Pints collected 61 people came, 14 rejected – approx. 22% rejection rate 47 Panamanians, 14 Ex-pats 28 men, 33 women 9 University students, 3 radio walk-ins, 49 scheduled 59 min. average time spent – faster at the end with fewer donors average of 40 min. 54 scheduled “appointments,” 7 no shows, 13% no show rate       Our Mission Our mission is to provide palliative care for the terminally ill in order that they may experience death with dignity and limited pain; to inform and promote community health; and, to support people with health and wellness needs by providing information, equipment and volunteer services.
