Moderators Moderator_02 Posted July 13, 2019 Moderators Share Posted July 13, 2019 Quote Weekend alert for Pacific Coast beaches Posted 12/07/2019 A prevention alert for Panama’s Pacific Coast was issued by the Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) at noon on Friday and remains in effect until midnight Sunday "The Emergency Operation Center ‘s warning is due to waves that will oscillate from 0.5 to 3.0 meters in height and periods of 11 to 16 seconds accompanied by winds of 15 to 35 kilometers per hour. The coasts of Chiriquí, Veraguas, Coclé, Panamá Oeste, Panamá and Darién are under the prevention warning. On the beaches of Los Santos, Veraguas and Chiriqui the waves will be able to reach greater heights. "The conditions of 11 to 16 seconds tell us that it will be a disorderly wave, that is, very close waves, with difficulty for the navigation of small boats," says Sinaproc director Omar Smith. The previous wave led to two drowning deaths floods and trees downed in many areas on Saturday, July 13. According to Sinaproc, there will be heavy rain, rain, frequent electric activity and strong gusts of winds. They have warned people living in areas prone to floods and landslides to maintain proper precautionary measures.
