35,000 Task Force  readies  for Easter rush

Over 35,000 agents of the Joint Task Force are spread out across Panama to help guarantee the safety of the people during the celebration of Easter weekend. when scores of thousands of people reunite with their families in the interior.Holy Week. This is the last phase of the Kraken operation.

Investment of traffic lanes on major highways lanes will begin from noon on Holy Thursday

The Minister of Public Safety in charge, Omar Pinzón, said that the most important thing is to count, during these days, with citizen participation.

Pinzón stressed that the citizen should be aware of the responsibility he must have when driving a vehicle, when alcohol should not be consumed or  traffic regulations violsted..

 José Donderis , director of the  Civil Protection System, reported that there will be controls on vehicular traffic, as well as surveillance at the ports of embarkation and disembarkation.  

The use of lifejackets vests will be enforced demanded and checks made to ensure  that e boats do not have overcapacity,

Hospitals are  activated with specialists and technicians in emergency rooms.

94,667 vehicles hit the road to the interior

The number pf vehicles heading for the interior of Panama on Holy  Weekend, climbed to  94,667  between 8 a.m. on Thursday, and early Saturday, April 20, reports the Transit and Land Transport  Authority (ATTT).  

The entity has called on the population to drive with prudence and caution. 

During the weekend a 35,000 member  Task  Force (FTC) carries out “Operation Kraken”, to provide security to the hundreds of thousands of citizens and visitor moving through the country.

The Civil Protection System (Sinaproc)  has asked citizens to visit the aquatic areas covered by FTC agents. and to follow that the recommendations of the lifeguards in the supervised areas where warning flags may be in place.

Over 400,000 return  from Easter break

The homeward trek is underway for over 400,000 people who traveled to the interior of the country, for the Easter Weekend.say personnel of the Joint Task Force (FTC).

 The FTC team carried out six rescues in the aquatic on the beaches of El Palmar (1), Boquilla (4) and Punta Chamem Adverse maritime conditions led to the placement of  14 red flags on Panama Pacific coast beaches.

Outward bound drivers weekenders collected  7,461  traffic tickets,  2, 761 of During the break, 44,387 passengers were carried on transferred in 3,755 trips throughout the country, "without regrettable incidents," according to the FTC.

11,844 Easter weekend tickets

Panama drivers received  11,884 tickets for driving offenses during Easter Weekend including, 4,233  for speeding and 221 for impaired driving. Traffic authorities said that 494 vehicles were towed.

Casualty report
"The Social Security Fund, at the national level,  attended  8,402 cases in its facilities during the Easter Week" Kraken phase IV”, of which 7, 591 were due to illness, 811  cases including  67 from collisions, 11 cases of abuse  40  knife wounds, 11  firearm injuries, 570 falls, 97 traumas for assault and 15 burns ",
