Valdés argued that the journalist "assaulted her” and "invaded her privacy" when she took Arreaga's declarations in her office. In addition, Arreaga was fined last night with 300 dollars for not carrying the personal identity document, so she was kept in detention. Sanction which, according to Panamanian laws, does not apply, given that the amount to be paid must not exceed 20 dollars. Faced with this situation, the National Association of Journalists of Panama (Conape) rejected the sanction, and indicated that the personal identification could be lost during the struggle between the security units and Arreaga, because they allegedly tried to take her equipment, before transported her to jail of Puerto Armuelles. However, the First Municipal Judge of the District of Barú, Abdiel Chávez, presented yesterday a writ of habeas corpus in favor of Arreaga and asked Valdés to send him a report on the case in two hours. A group of Conape moved to Barú to inquire about the state of Arreaga, who today should be presented to the mayor of the place, boss of the judge of peace.
