Just missed being way too close to an accident involving two large trucks on the interAmerican highway in the area of Vigui.  Both vehicles were flipped onto their sides in the eastbound lane and one was burning.  Both vehicles were facing west which means they must have spun.  There were pieces and parts of the trucks on both sides of the road ( some were mighty big)   Looks like one heading west crossed through the cement divider when it failed to negotiate a downhill curve.  This particular spot in Vigui has seen more than one accident just like this.  We knew something was up when three vehicles came at us headed east in our westbound side of the road ...all 3 flashing lights.  We could see smoke in the distance.  The larger hauler was on fire.  Ultimately nothing was left of the cab on that one.

Had we not stopped for a very brief piss break for our dog on our trip back home, we would have been way too close for comfort on this one. Still am puzzled as to exactly how this accident happened.

It was amazing there were not more involved with the traffic heading east behind it.  After we passed the 3 vehicles coming at us on our side of the divided highway and we approached the smoke, we encountered what looked like the drive train from the delivery truck on our side of the road...then numerous fragments all over the road that were undoubtedly exploded everywhere.   Any oncoming vehicle could have been stuck by that.  The big hole in the cement divider was next to the hauler in the foreground of the photo.  As far as I can figure the delivery truck in the distance was launched over the divider.   Like the curve in front of Brisas Boquetenas, this place has gotten quite a few of these accidents where heavy trucks that are going too fast can't negotiate the downhill curve.  They could have both gotten tangeled up as one or the other or both lost control downhill.  All four victims survived and made it to the hospital. ...a miracle.
