Tuesday, October 16, 2018 An analysis compiled by the Trade Intelligence area at CentralAmericaData provides interesting results on where and who are the stores that provide services related to the automotive sector in Central America. There are approximately 15,000 stores throughout the region dedicated to repair services, car maintenance and the supply of auto parts and spare parts. Almost 31% is concentrated in Costa Rica, followed by Guatemala, where it is around 20%, and the remaining 49% of the lubrication centers and workshops identified in the study are in the other four countries.See geolocation system details About 14% of the sale points identified in the region are in Panama, mainly in the Panama province, where about 1,200 establishments operate. It is followed by the province of Chiriqui, where there are about 300 stores working. Analyzing the number of establishments by brand in the entire region, 20 companies concentrate about 2% of the lubricant centers and workshops that work from Guatemala to Panama. In Costa Rica the companies Super Baterías, Eurotaller and Repuestos Gigantes have the largest number of service points distributed in the country. The establishments in Guatemala with the highest number of service points are Llanresa, Vitatrac and Vifrio. Friday, January 24, 2020 Figures from the Trade Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData: Variation in Imports According to CentralAmericaData's estimates, between January and June 2018 and the same period in 2019 the value of imported vehicle parts and replacements in Panama registered a 14% increase, from $111 million to $127 million. The increase reported in the first half of 2019, reinforces the increase in purchases recorded in the same period of 2018, when the year-on-year variation was 6%.Origin of Imports In the first six months of 2019, 22% of the value imported by companies in Panama came from the USA, 17% from the Panama Free Zone, 12% from China, % from Belgium and 9% from Mexico.
