Moderator comment: Referring here to the words used in the title of the embedded graphic, this is the first time that I have heard the term "electric accumulator" when referring to batteries.

Variation in regional imports
The value of imported car batteries in Central America decreased 5% between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018, falling from $52 million to $50 million.

Imports by country
The main buyers were Guatemala and Costa Rica, with $11 million each, followed by Panama and Honduras, with $8 million each, and El Salvador and Nicaragua, with $6 million each, from January to March of this year.

Origin of imports 
In the first three months of the year, 42% of the value imported in the region came from Mexico, 18% from the US, 12% from China, 10% from South Korea, 2% from Turkey and 2% from Colombia.

USA it is the market origin of the imports that has most been reduced in the first quarter of the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 26% of the total purchases of Central America, and in 2018 that proportion fell to 18%.

Variation of regional imports
Between the first nine months of 2017 and the same period this year, the imported value of car batteries from Mexico to Central America registered an increase of 7%, going from $55 million to $59 million.

Imports by country
From January to September of this year, the main Central American country buying lead electric accumulators from companies in Mexico was Guatemala, with $17 million, followed by Honduras, with $13 million, Costa Rica, with $12 million, El Salvador, with $9 million, Nicaragua, with $5 million and Panama with $3 million.

During the first nine months of the year, Central America was the second largest destination in terms of value sold of Mexican exports of such products, only surpassed by the U.S.

Between the first half of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value of imported car batteries in Central America registered a rise of 8%, from $98 million to $105 million.

Imports by country
From January to June of this year, the largest buyer was Guatemala, with $25 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $23 million, Panama, with $18 million, Honduras, with $17 million, El Salvador, with $13 million and Nicaragua, with $10 million.

Origin of imports
In the first six months of the year, 44% of the value imported into the region was from Mexico, 18% from the U.S., 11% from China, 10% from South Korea, 2% from Turkey and 2% from Colombia.

The U.S. is the market of origin of imports that has declined the most in the first half of the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 26% of total purchases in Central America, and in 2018 that proportion fell to 18%.

Between the first eleven months of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value of car batteries imported from Mexico to Central America registered a slight increase from $70 million to $72 million.

Imports by Country
From January to November last year, the main Central American country buying lead batteries from companies in Mexico was Guatemala, with $21 million, followed by Honduras and Costa Rica, with $15 million each, El Salvador, with $12 million, Nicaragua, with $7 million and Panama with $2 million.

During the first eleven months of 2019, Central America was the second largest destination according to value sold of Mexican exports of these products, only surpassed by the United States.
