The Emergency Operations Center (COE) of the  Civil Protection Agency  (Sinaproc) issued a weekend alert on Saturday, August 18 as tropical weather waves have moved further south than usual across the country.

The most intense rains will fall in maritime areas with the possibility of heavy downpours in the continental region.

Rains with electric storms are expected in the Gulf of Chiriqui and during the night, in the Gulf of Panama,  with scattered rains on the Caribbean slope and Darién.

More of the same on  Sunday, August 19, in the early morning hours in the maritime area of the Pacific slope and east of the Caribbean slope. In addition to a possible isolated rainstorm in Guna Yala, Colón, Darién, Panama, West Panama, Coclé and Azuero peninsula.

The COE will maintain permanent surveillance in sectors prone to floods and landslides, and they ask the public to report risk situations.
