Two virtuosos of the guitar at Boquete Library Make a space in your calendar because this Saturday, July 7th the library will be host of a unique presentation from the 16th International Guitar Festival of Panama. This Festival is organized by the talented Panamanian musician Emiliano Pardo Tristán, who delighted our ears at the last concert. This time we will be visited by two young virtuosos, participants of the festival: Marco Corrales from Costa Rica and Jesús Serrano from Mexico. The first of our guests was the winner of the International Guitar Contest of Panama and since 2016 he started recording his album: “A century of Costa Rican Guitar” that mixes eleven songs and immortalizes the musical culture of Costa Rica. The second, winner of around 50 awards in America and Europe, is known as “the devil of the guitar” and stands out for his refined presentations full of energy. Prepare yourself for a concert of vibrant melodies through the guitar: a classical instrument that reinvents itself day by day. Enjoy this musical journey with international quality musicians. Tickets available in Mail Boxes Etc & Boquete Library.

The Baylor Woodwind Quintet, founded in 1972, is conformed by faculty members residing at the School of Music at Baylor University in Waco, TX. For many years, the quintet was the core of the Baylor chamber players (a flexible group formed by duos through larger ensembles that also included percussion and saxophone). Woodwind Quintet received three scholarships from 1979 to 1983 to study chamber music in Vermont with the famous flutist and chamber music coach at the Conservatoire of Paris, the late Marcel Moyse. In 1984, the National Flute Association selected the quintet to release its commissioned piece, the Wind Quintet Concert by Richard Rodney Bennett, at the annual convention in Chicago. The quintet has also been invited to perform recitals at the NFA conventions in Kansas City in 1994 and in Phoenix in 1998. We wait for you. Tickets available at Mail Boxes and Boquete Library Thanks a lot
  13. We are so lucky in Boquete to enjoy the benefits of the vision and generosity of one family, Price and Susan Peterson. Our Library would not exist but for them, and all the amazing and beautiful events that happen there would not be ours. The current art show is just one of those events. I attended the Show Opening the other evening. The art exhibited in the large top floor room is impressive, both in variety and quality. It is easy to forget that a community as small as ours rarely has facilities to present art, and also rarely has a Library administration so dedicated to bringing culture for the entire community to enjoy and learn from. Thank you to the Petersons for making this a reality. Thank you to the Library administration and staff for the vision, energy and imagination required to provide all you do for Boquete.
