  1. Please keep the Musings forum. My muse may need it.
  2. On eBay (there are a number of packaging/weight options) (http://www.ebay.com/itm/260978052880). 20 ml syringes purchased locally. Can be used intravenously or orally. Here's a site I found on Google (using Vitamin C in dogs with snakebites): http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11125 There are a number of sites. I couldn't find a solution construction recipe on the Australian site, but I mean to write to them to see what they've used. It will work or it won't --- but I'd much rather try it than the hideous alternative. Living in an area of deadly snakes where the closest antivenin for humans is David and there is no, what I consider qualified, veterinarian within a reasonable distance to handle a poisonous snake bite, I'd rather take the Vitamin C approach myself. I just hope the hell it works.
  3. Two Sailors: Because of your unfortunate event (and the same for Cajun Eric's weimaraner last year) and Dottie A's article, I now have injectable Vitamin C powder and syringes at the ready...just in case. So thank you both.
  4. That was my first thought when I read this sad piece of news from Judy. I now hope the gardener doesn't leave the gate open when he/she is working. Seems as if anyone else were 'watching', they would know that the gate is always locked and given up long before this event. Not the easiest place to access either.
  5. I've given him the contact info for the Angus folks in Volcan. Stay tuned.
  6. Those may also be down. At least any news/bochinche has not been evident recently, at least in Chiriqui. The majority of the "bad" news is around traffic accidents/injuries/deaths.
  7. Just reporting a tweet sent out. If my translating skills are decent, apparently all the effort and energy and time and money spent on community/area security has been well spent. Reten_Chiriqui (@RetenChiriqui) tweeted at 7:32 AM on Mon, May 30, 2016: Hoy, se llega a #60 días sin homicidios en #Chiriquí, al parecer las acciones que desarrolla las autoridades y policía esta funcionando. (https://twitter.com/RetenChiriqui/status/737260517446799360?s=02)
  8. I don't see him either. George of George's Grill in Palo Alto said he gets fish from him. I'll try to get a phone number and report back.
  9. I thought they were in the corner "orangish-yellow" shop in the building on the corner (which has had a multitude of vendors).
  10. I think there was also one (cold-storage plant) built in Potrerillo Acequia which has never been used. I read somewhere that the previous administration contracted for these with an apparent financial gain in mind.
  11. Judy: I had my mammo done in November and it appeared to be a new machine...came away with a DVD (I guess if IPTV is down I can look at my mammo instead)and an all clear. $20. A lot different from the US... $140 and a trip back to the doc for more $$ to get the results. Bonnie: I paid Dra.Diaz $44 in January for my Drivers' License statement. That is what prompted my question to Carol (I wouldn't have a clue how old she was). Carol: What is her regular office visit fee after the initial consultation and history-taking?
  12. Carol, you said Dra. Diaz' fee was $44...was that for the Driver's License statement? Do you (or anyone else on CL) know what she charges for a regular office visit?
  13. I've tried to figure out the RSmith online ordering only to be thwarted every time by something different. I think they deliver through Fletes...operative word is "think". Time to try again, I guess. Maybe I'll get it done before their store in Davíd is operational. They have the best flour tortillas in the nation...not the cardboard-like consistency of all the others. And they consistently carry Grey Poupon. Deli Baru occasionally has the tortillas.
  14. Rotary is having a Venta de Patio sale on March 20 (for details, see March 5 Newslady's Noticias in the Forum section here). They're asking for used clothing, etc.
  15. Scorpions are a part of life here. Parts of Volcancito have many. You just need to be aware of them.
  16. Welcome, David. I summarily excluded myself from that now-mess after happily being there from its inception. Change is usually hard but in this case it was an easy no-brainer.
  17. Drove the hill this morning and the break is still being worked on. Apparently they had to get (or are going to get) a part from Panama City.
  18. Under Browse, I open up the Forums, scroll down to the 'News Feeds/Meeting Announcements' section, click on the double "cartoon cloud" icon on the left margin, it turns gray, then I go back to the top and click 'Unread Content'. Easy once you get into the routine. Of course you don't see anything else posted there along with the Newslady posts, but most of those you will have already seen other places. Sorry, Bud, I know I'm not using the "official" technical nomenclature you prefer...but my terms describing my process should do what Judy wants.
  19. LOL, Bonnie. Wasn't talking about "feria bridge" passes. Just making a suggestion for residency sticker issuance for checkpoint purposes. No verification of residency needed for the bridge pass - just verbally giving your license number doesn't do that.
  20. Simple registration for sticker purposes (read checkpoints here): Vehicle paperwork, driver's license, carnet/cedula and NIS number (identifying residency) or rental agreement. Sticker in window or front bumper should allow easy pass through via passing lane.
