Butterfly yin yoga is a traditional Hatha based practice, woven intuitively and practiced slowly with intention and mindfulness. Focused on opening the body to release tension and stress – all while surrounded by the last flight of the day of the butterflies. This practice is accessible to all levels of student.

"Restorative Yoga doesn't require (externally at least) much active doing. So it challenges the part of us that needs to be productive every minute of every day. We often try to co-opt yoga as a vehicle for an extreme makeover, doggedly attempting to make ourselves better, stronger, more flexible, calmer; as though there were something deeply wrong with us. But Yoga emphasizes non-striving. All of Yoga's philosophical texts encourage us to practice with dedication and intensity, but also without an agenda. In other words, forget self-improvement. Try practicing self-compassion instead. . . Let go of the need to turn your practice into a good performance. Instead, just see where it takes you." Yoga for Emotional Balance, Bo Forbes
Instructor Pat Thomas (RYT 200) is a retiree who has practiced yoga for over 40 years. She is certified in iRest Yoga Nidra in addition to traditional Hatha Yoga. Her sessions, held on Mondays and Thursdays at the Butterfly House, provide for an experience of deep relaxation and meditation. This class is accessible for all levels of physical fitness, because we meet our bodies (and minds) where they are. Pat donates the cost of her sessions, which are $6 for residents with their own mats, and $15 for drop ins. Mats are available for sale.
"Yoga is not about touching your hands to your feet, or your heads to your knees, but about touching your heart to the divine." (unknown).

Community Christmas Party Hosted by Amigos de Boquete Comunidad
By Moderator_02,
The party was planned and executed by a recently formed group of expats under the name of Amigos de Boquete Comunidad (ABC). Joe Hart and his wife, Linda, along with numerous volunteers put together this festive gathering. Our hats off to Joe, Linda, and all of their elves.
Here are a few pictures from this event:

ARF Thanksgiving Meal
By Bud,
An unexpected plus for us was that we finally got to meet Beth Abrahams (it is kind of a long story, don't ask).
Beth Abrahams
We also got to catch up with all of the latest travels and happenings of our friends who were at our table. Met a few new people, etc.
There simply was nothing that we could fault (not our goal anyway). This is the way things should be done, and ARF did it with all of their wonderful volunteers. If someone found fault with something yesterday, then I would chalk them off as being a token curmudgeon. Thank you ARF! GREAT JOB!!!!
Thank you to all who helped make yesterday's Thanksgiving Day celebration such a huge success, and special thanks to N&N:
I will close with: we all have a lot to be thankful for.
