I've always pulled for the underdog or less fortunate. Sports Illustrated got this one right.

6:39 am. This one rattled the pots and pans in the cabinet. Actually very close the way the crow flys, 47km or 29mi. Just on the other side of Volcan Baru. The map shows it very close to Rio Sereno. Some say 4.8 and some 5.0. What's the difference? Hint------2.

I've been here a few times. If i'm over in Volcan I drop in on the animals in the rehabilitation center. She told me she has dropped off the coyote in the jungles many miles east towards Panama City and it always come back. This beats setting around worrying about who is wrong and who is wright and who has been in Panama the longest!!!!
Nilka,
The manager of Hotel La Morenita (at the border) is not taking any guest for as long as it takes for The Government Of Panama to move the Cubans from the border. She said she didn't know when that would take place.
She has 56 Cubans staying in her 14 rooms. Four per room. She actually didn't have much say in the Panamanian Government taking the place over. I talked with an official there today and he told me there are 1200 Cubans in Panama between Darien and the Frontera. They h
I have a friend in David (Panamanian) that once lived in chiquita country. His dad retired from chiquita as the mail man. This new truck I spotted today. Looks like prep work might be picking up.
.
Boca Chica Restaurante in David. It is mostly seafood and has a steak menu. In David, I rate it 8 out of ten. Seafood was fresh, A/C dining room (small) or other seating out front. Good service and not long waits. We had the Mariscada De La Casa (seafood platter). More than enough for two. Everything is under $15. The fried Calamara appetizer was good also.
Again, I don't follow politics too much but I did follow this man. He sold out his country and the poor people with help of his accomplices. A great day for Panama. Innocent? Don't think so. As of 4am none of the major news outlets in the USA have covered this; ABC,NBC,FOX,CBS,MSNBC.
I wonder why?

I normally don't do politics but this is insane. I'm not looking for a debate so I have locked comments.
The Clown Show (GOP Debate) was the same again. The GOP is seriously destroying itself. I have crossed over to vote before but that was when gentlemen and true politicians worked together. I've never seen this madness. The finger needs to be pointed toward themselves (GOP) and the party in general.
I read a lot of BS online from newspapers and occassionally see interesting news in the papers. As a matter of fact, I read 6 news papers every morning from the State Of Florida. This one caught my eye. I thought about Boquete.ning. I also thought this might have happened to a few on Ning but it's basically virtual (the big mouths hide behind the computor). It's all about politics and arrogance.

The rail car in front of the post office has intriqued me for sometime. So, I did a little searching around. Very interesting article I found.

Ferrocarril de Chiriquí[edit]
At the end of the nineteenth century, the government of Panama studied the feasibility of additional railroads. In 1910, Panama Railway was commissioned to estimate cost of a railroad from Panama City to David, Chiriquí with branches to Antón (Coclé Provinc
Afternoon, 11-21-2015. The asphalt on this road is now gone up the hill. There is a before and after photo. I go up this road everyday to pick someone up. The road is the first left past San Fransico Plaza going up the hill. There is a new kiosko being built there. Looks like the small culvert bridge might have survived on the washed out road. There are a few houses past the bridge going up hill.
For years I didn't like the early (November) commercializations of christmas in the USA. My first christmas here changed my mind and it's acceptable now. ConWay starts their christmas displays in October!!!!! Life changing experience. lolololol
Inspite of all that has transpired lately in Chiriqui I feel safe. And, the country is secure enough for me concerning terrorism. I could conjure up some conspiracies if I bite the hook baited by the terrorist: FEAR is the bait. Sometimes a threat is real. We need to know the threat and who is making the threat.
We did a house exchange in Bolton, England in 1998. Attached are a few pics.
But, my main purpose of this post was the Security at the Manchester airport at the time. The security then was as tough as the US is now---well almost. They video recorded questions and answers of every passenger before boarding the plane. Everyone walked up to a single podium and gave many answers to many questions. I assume they profiled the interviews while we were in flight to the US. They carefully searched
I spent the day with these fine people. Very friendly, polite, welcoming and willing to share history. We ate their food and appreciated their customs. My two friends teach on the Comarca. They get 1.5 days off a week from their teaching jobs. They travel to the Comarca on Sunday afternoons and return home late Friday afernoon. They have to bus to their work and then ride a 4x4 truck up the mountains. There is running water and a small amount of electricity. Omar torrijos' son gave them small so
It appears Europe and the Middle East have had more attacks than the USA since 9-11 and the Invasion of Iraq.
Hopefully the security in the USA stays on track. Many attempts in the USA have been foiled since 9-11.
I don't have any family in France but this is tragic and our prayers are with those affected.
